She also is suing Michael David Barrett, who pleaded guilty to harassment Andrews last year, for invasion of privacy and causing moral harm. In 2008, Barrett rented a room across the hall from Andrews, shot her when she undressed, and then upload images to the Internet. The suit was filed Thursday in U.S. District Court in Cook County, Illinois

“Not only the hotels confirmed that Ms. Andrews was going to register as a visitor, but they are also released without the consent of Ms. Andrews, her room number,” her lawyers said in a statement, according to CNN. “Hotels, the subject Michael David Barrett, a hotel room in the immediate vicinity.”

Barrett, 47-year-old former insurance salesman, is serving 30 months in prison for the prosecution of Andrew.

“Although I’ll never be able to fully erase the impact that this invasion of privacy was on me and my family, I hope my experience will cause the hospitality industry to be more vigilant in protecting our guests from the time they reserve a hotel room until they check, “Andrews said in a statement.

Radisson Hotels said that it had no immediate comment today. California Marriott could not be reached for comment this morning.

He rented a hotel room adjacent to Andrews in three cities and shot video for it in Columbus, Ohio in February 2008, Nashville, Tennessee in May 2009. He was sentenced to two and a half years in prison stay this March.

Andrews hopes that the action will improve the hotel etiquette and responsibility.

Erin Andrews Peeping Tom Video:ESPN commentator Erin Andrews tells Oprah Winfrey that one of the hardest moments of a traumatic summer – during which she was videotaped nude in her hotel room by a peeping tom who posted the footage to the Internet – was having to tell her parents what had happened.

“I mean, having to call my parents and they – they thought I was physically injured how bad I was screaming,” she tells the talk show host on a segment that will air Friday afternoon, as a lead-up to Oprah’s season premiere on Monday Sept. 14.

In the immediate aftermath, Andrews thought her career would never recover from the humiliating episode.

On the phone with her father, “I kept screaming, I’m done. My career is over. I’m done. Get it off. Get it off the Internet. Get it off.”

After the footage was posted to the Web in mid-July the incident became a huge news story, especially where it started – on the Internet. Andrews said the decision by some media outlets to air portions of the video or publish stills made her feel like a victim all over again.

It’s horrifying,” she told Oprah. “It was reliving it. Like I said, I understand you have a story to cover. But it’s almost like you’re – you’re glorifying it. ‘Hey, check out this video. Check out these pictures.’ There was no need to show those. I’m a crime victim.”

And while she has returned to ESPN to cover college football from the sidelines, she says she may never feel the same about her stints on the road, staying in hotels. It was during travel for work that someone apparently drilled a hole in the wall of her hotel room, creating a peep hole through which the offending video was shot.

“I think it will always make me feel nervous. But I also feel it’s my duty to come out and show this person, you know what? I worked hard for my career and I – I got there the right way and you’re not gonna break me down.
