Rodney Carrington Show Them To Me
Rodney Carrington Show Them To Me:Rodney Carrington Take funnyman Dane Cook then give him a cowboy hat, put an Oklahoma twang in his voice and strap on a guitar.
At the end of all that, you get comedian Rodney Carrington.
Just as foul-mouthed and silly as Cook, Carrington is also super-successful. According to Pollstar, he’s been among the top 10 grossing comedians in each of the past five years.
Performing Friday at Stir, he might already be familiar to some local fans as he makes frequent appearances on “The Bob & Tom Show,” a syndicated morning radio show that has been broadcast on Omaha.
During his live shows, Carrington kicks things off with a stand-up routine and then moves on to singing his goofy country songs.
With songs like “Today’s the Day My Wife Met My Girlfriend,” “More of a Man” and several others whose titles can’t be mentioned in this paper, Carrington’s humor is often off-color.
But with his latest album, El Niño Loco, Carrington kept things more tame in an effort to make it radio-friendly. It debuted at No. 2 on Billboard’s comedy chart.
If I’m the Only One, the new album’s single, focuses on a cheating spouse and the video features actors from Carrington’s sitcom, Rodney, which appeared on ABC for two seasons.
The comedian has released six albums on a major label and plans to release his first Christmas album, “Make it Christmas,” in November.
“El Niño Loco” is considerably less “blue” because Carrington says he’s maturing.
“I think different as I get older,” Carrington told Billboard magazine. “At some point you realize you’re 40 and you have teenagers now. I don’t think that way anymore. That’s what they think about.” Thanks
