Lorenzen Wright Found Dead:Relatives and friends gathered yesterday Lorenzen Wright, and mourned former NBA players who went missing for 10 days as police investigated the discovery of the body outside of Memphis.
Uncle Wright, Curtis Wright said police called the father of a player, Herb Wright, yesterday with the news that he had died.
Sergeant Alyssa Macon-Moore of the Memphis Police wrote by e-mail AP that police are investigating the death of an unknown man near a forest about 15 miles south of Memphis. When asked, the man Wright, she says they could not confirm the identity of the victim last night.
Families issued a statement through his cousin Lorenzen Wright, Camella Logan: “Lorenzen’s family has come together to mourn their loss and honor his legacy. We appreciate your thoughts, prayers and condolences, as they are comforting in a very difficult time. In addition We ask that you respect our privacy as we try to cope with the sudden loss.”
Wright’s mother, Deborah Marion, who arrived on the scene yesterday evening with several members of the family. She crossed the tape at the crime scene and tried to talk to police when she was told to go back. She sat in the TV van, before returning to the tape. Two officers, let him through.

Wright, 34, was last seen on July 18 when he was supposed to fly from the city. His family filed a missing person report on July 22.
Wright played 13 years in the NBA with five teams: the Los Angeles Clippers, Atlanta Hawks, Memphis Grizzlies, Sacramento Kings, and most recently Cleveland Cavaliers with 17 games the 2008-09 season. Wright left the University of Memphis early to the NBA and the Clippers have made him a lottery pick with the selection № 7.
He averaged 8 points and 6.4 rebounds in 778 career games.
By evening, about 200 people visited the police blocked the road while television news helicopters showed investigators scoured the grounds for evidence. Police brought a mobile command center, that further blocked the scene.
Former NBA star Penny Hardaway, who played in Memphis for two years before the Wright said that he heard the news from a friend and went to the spot where the body was found.
I cried. Emotion hit me immediately. This is simply sad, because we lost a good man and a brother,”Hardaway said.
Elliot Perry, another friend and former player of Memphis, was also at the scene. Wendy Wilson, who once worked as a personal assistant to Wright, Wright says, are often used by traffic policemen had cordoned off as a shortcut to the house of his mother.
“He was a good man. He does not deserve to die this way,”Wilson said.
