LB govts tenure extended till Dec 31President Asif Ali Zardari extended the tenure of the present Nazims of the local Bodies governments till December 31 of this year, Geo News reported Friday.

Talking to media at a meeting here, Attorney General of Pakistan Latif Khosa told that President extended the term of the present LB governments so that a consensus could be approached among the allies of the government on the issue.

Responding a question regarding 17th amendment, he said this amendment at the moment cannot be done away with, as it will subsequently affect the seats of national and provincial assemblies.

However, he hoped that committee constituted to review the constitutional amendments will recommend the abolishment of the conflicting Articles in the constitution including 17th amendment.
