Oil refiners have cut down the supply of furnace oil to thermal plants by 50,000 metric tons as a result more power outage is expected in the coming days.
According to the sources of Water and Power only 10,000 metric ton of furnace oil is being supplied to the thermal power plants instead of the 35,000 metric tons required by the thermal units. Due to the cut downs of supply, Kapco, Hubco and AES Lyallpur have very low reserves of furnace oil which is likely to cause further outages of power.
